We live in a perfectly-complex and oppressive system. This system uses skin color and other identity markers to construct the social and power hierarchy in which we live. This hierarchy gives power to those who created it by legitimizing, maintaining, and reinforcing inequity. Today this hierarchy is present in our policy decisions, ideas, and beliefs about others and ourselves.
Only through a continuous process of choosing to (un)learn can we find healing, and justice. Only through (un)learning can we take the first step to reimagine the possibilities of a truly equitable and liberatory self and system.
