We are so excited to officially introduce Umuwi Ethnic Studies, a new organization dedicated to strengthening, protecting and sustaining ethnic studies in Chicago. Umuwi (oo-moo-WE) means "to return home" in Tagalog. At Umuwi, we believe that young people deserve an ethnic studies education that will cultivate love of self and others, root them in the understanding of who they are and where they come from, and prepare them for the freedom struggles that lay ahead of us.Join us in birthing Umuwi with a spirit of love, joy, abundance and solidarity, by helping to build our homeplace for ethnic studies! Our goal is to have 50 people donate $100 in order to reach our goal. Every dollar you give to our initial fundraiser will be matched dollar for dollar, so please donate now to double your gift!
